I am participating in a 31 day writing challenge. My topic is 31 days of Flipping Out and relates to things I find and flip. It could be anything from a candlestick-turned-soap-dish, to repurposed junk bound for the dumpster. Today’s flip is inspired by Pottery Barn. As soon as I saw this garland, I wanted it, but the price of $129 was a bit steep to use once a year for just a few days.
So I stopped in at Hobby Lobby and purchased a few supplies to make my own version. I knew I wanted a few pinecones and leaves, but beyond that, I would just be creative!
Latte did an inventory check to be sure I had everything I needed.
I purchased garland and 9 picks: 3 glass berries, 3 leaves with pinecones and 3 gourds with corn husks.
I love this season of color.
Pinecones and acorns with fall leaves.
I loved these glass berries.
I placed the garland around the candlesticks and across the mantle.
I then wired one of each of the picks together and placed them in the garland.
My new pumpkins were then perched on a candlestick and on the mantle.
Here is the finished project.
Pottery Barn was my inspiration and I am very pleased with the finished product. And, I’m especially pleased with the price. Hobby Lobby had all of their fall merchandise 40% off, so my grand total for this project was $44 including the pumpkins. The garland when finished was only $18, so compared to $129, I think it looks fantabulous!
