Riverchase Home

Rave Redux Decorating Services is the name of my company. My specialty is using what the client already has to make their home all they want it to be for minimum dollar and effort. This Riverchase home in Birmingham, AL was a fun project. I made one huge mistake though, I failed to take before pictures.

The fun in these projects for me is to hear a client say that their accessories are outdated, or tired and they need all new stuff. In about 3 1/2 hours, I was able to show this client that all that was needed was to use what they already had in a different way. It would all feel new again.

According to my client, she was so very pleased with the results and very surprised that we used all of her things. I left her with a list of things she needed to add to what she already had, sold her a cowhide rug that I was actually returning for another client, and re-hung her pictures to give her a whole new look.

In this room, I added the cowhide rug over a brown shag rug she already had for a completely new look. Then we moved the oil painting from one wall to the wall over the piano, creating a focal wall opposite the fireplace. The coffee table was in pieces in a storage closet in the basement. We brought it up and added it to this room. It looked fabulous atop the rug. The metal cross adds an architectural element to this side of the room.

She had all of this art, but it was hanging in different areas of the house. We added it to this room, creating a long gallery wall of art. My client was so pleased with this wall. We stacked the round wicker baskets to create a table, tying the light color of the coffee table with this side “table.”

This coffee table is a creation of itself. During a recent move, the marble top to the table was broken, so my client used her creative side to put this table to continued use. She covered a piece of plywood with fabric, purchased a piece of glass and voila, her coffee table was as good as new.

We moved this rug from her living room and the art from a bedroom, giving the Dining Room a completely new look. A large moss covered sphere is on the way to top this glass hurricane on the table.

Foyer

This foyer piece used to be the base to a dining room hutch. My client placed it in the foyer and we discussed painting it Aries by Annie Sloan, which is the closest color to a gold to match the mirror above.

In the Master Bedroom, we moved a desk from an adjacent wall to use as a nightstand. We hung the mirror above the desk and added accessories that she had in other rooms.

This picture was taken with a camera phone and at night, but I love the green throw and Godfather poster.

We added pillows to the newly placed bench at the end of the bed and one new navy pillow to the bed.

The parlor is an ongoing project. We are looking for an area rug and fabric to reupholster the sofa. In the meantime, we found the mirror and botanicals in the basement and put this look together until then.

Botanicals never go out of style and she was so excited to hear that gold accents are coming back in style. No need to re-frame them.

This completes the rooms we worked on today. We stole art from the upstairs bedrooms, so our next project will involve shopping. Oh, rats! I have to shop with someone else’s money. I love my job.
