The perfect motto for my Fashion Friday posts would have to be the slogan in this title. Modern. Southern. Style. And where do you shop for this fashion mantra? Where else, but Belk, in Spanish Fort, AL. I have met the store manager, Georgia Knowles, and she has been kind enough to help me with today’s Fashion Friday.
She put together our own little fashion show with the most precious model who also works for Belk. Meet Mrs. Joanie…
Today, we are focusing on a Spring wardrobe for the wise and personable. Mrs. Joanie was a delight to work with and looks like she has been modeling her whole life in this lovely pink broomstick skirt, top and jacket by Ruby Road.
I can imagine a lovely garden tea party in this floral dress by Maggie London. The turquoise handbag for a pop of color adds just a small element of surprise to this fun look. Such a classy look with the pearls, yet casual with the sandals.
This Choices’ gray linen tunic and pants is both comfortable, and dressy enough for shopping or lunch. And speaking of lunch, Mrs. Joanie can have a delicious meal anytime with her famous son-in-law, Pete, of Panini Pete’s Cafe (featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) in Fairhope. We had such a lovely conversation about his work with our servicemen overseas, that when I finished the shoot, I had to pop in at Pete’s for a burger. I told him that I’d just done a photo shoot with his mother-in-law and his face lit up immediately. After telling him that Mrs. Joanie had nothing but praise for him, he replied, “Well, that’s just what the family says to strangers.” Funny and a good cook …lucky Mrs. Panini-Pete.
Mrs. Joanie was no stranger to fashion on the coast in this Jones New York ensemble. My personal favorite of the casual outfits, this breathable linen would be great now and on into the hot, steamy days of August. The vertical chevron-striped cardigan is slimming and such a bright combination of color. The bright yellow handbag pulls it all together.
Polka dots are going to be a hot item this Spring, and this Appendix dress is the perfect accessory for a Spring Brahmin handbag. This would be a perfect Sunday dress for Easter, Ladies.
This short sleeve white tunic with the lace cardigan is the embodiment of the Belk motto. Modern. Southern. Style. Worn by Assistant Store Manager, Barbara, it is the perfect choice for a day that starts out cool, but warms up quickly.
I so enjoyed this keyhole peek into the lines we’ll be seeing in Belk this season. The store continues to grow since it opened in 2004. According to Manager, Georgia Knowles, major designers are being added to this Belk location on a regular basis. Recent additions include:
Polo by Ralph Lauren, for boys.
Michael Kors Handbags.
Lucky Brand shoes.
Gladiator Sandals by Nine West, will be popular again this season.
If you are in Spanish Fort over the next few days, stop in for a free foundation by Clinique, Lancome or Estee Lauder and tell them Kim, from Cozinest sent you.
Modern. Southern. Style. I’ll take one of each, please.
