BBQ & Brew

Sometimes, when it rains, it pours fun and this past weekend is a prime example. Yesterdays’ post was all about our First Friday Artwalk and todays’ is Fairhope’s very first BBQ and Brew. This Backyard BBQ cook-off and Brew competition had lots of fun for the family. It was in honor of the United Veterans of Alabama and had something for every member of the family.

This gentleman is the culinary winner in our book. His sign says he is located in Daphne, but, unfortunately, he doesn’t have a restaurant. It’s a real shame, too, because his ribs were the best in the backyard – to us. I’m not sure who actually won the competition because we left before the awards. As of this writing, I can find nothing stating who the winners were.

My favorite colors are orange and blue, but my favorite ribs are grilled by Bama-que.

I am sure that the “Home Brew” tent was the most popular, but we didn’t taste any of the brew, so we have no say in who’s the best. Had there been a wine tasting, that would have been a different story.

For the younger family members, there was all sorts of fun.

And even our four-legged family members had a good time.

And, man do I wish I knew who won these…

And if you are in to politics, there were plenty of barkers (not the four-legged kind) in attendance. Primary elections in Baldwin County are June 3, 2014, and come rain or shine, we will be bombarded with ads for the next few months.

So, whether you like your politics a little sweet, a little tart, a little hot, or a little savory, a good sauce will always set your butt apart.
